The Demonstration of the Spirit
1st Corinthians 2:1-15 says “And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”
We believe that the foundation of all doctrine that is preached and taught ought to be Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Paul made a declaration here that what he preached would be centered upon that core truth. He also made the distinction between that and the wisdom of men. If we as Believers want to experience the power of God then it must be centered upon Jesus and His finished work at the Cross.
Paul said in Romans 1:16 that he was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God. There’s power not only to forgive sin but to overcome it on a daily basis. There’s power to heal. Power to deliver. To break every chain and addiction. He paid for it all at the Cross!
